Placements & Mentoring

Complete your internship with us. We welcome local, national and international students. We accept both short and long term student placements, work placements, and internships. 

Students play a vital role in the life of Togher Family Centre and support the work we do. You can help make a difference by choosing to undertake your work or student placement with Togher Family Centre. Consider which of our services best suit your study programme and grow as part of a dynamic team. 
 
We provide a range of learning environments for students who are accepted for placement. We provide opportunities in all of our departments and settings. 

  • I would recommend the CE scheme to someone who is long-term unemployed or facing barriers to employment. The scheme helped me to rebuild my confidence and to develop new skills. The guidance, support, and opportunities I was given through the C.E scheme helped me to grow both personally and professionally.
  • Working on the CE Scheme helped me get back into a routine and reminded me of my capabilities. I also improved my communication and teamwork skills by working with others, and I gained new qualifications that made me feel more prepared to enter the Early Years workforce.

Togher Family Centre has been providing placements for domestic and international students for 45 years. The centre is committed to providing the highest quality training opportunities for students and our robust training programme challenges and supports students to reach their full potential and gain transferrable, practical and informed skills for their future employment. 

Togher Family Centre provides a range of learning environments for students who are accepted for placement. We strongly encourage you to take advantage of the many and varying learning opportunities which will present over the course of your placement and hope that in doing so, you will enhance your personal development and begin to piece together the foundation of your future career path.

  • Early Years Services: working with children between one and five years old 
  • Youth service (After-school): working with children between four and twelve years old 
  • Family Support services: working with families who are attending our Contact Centre and availing themselves of the parenting programmes we provide. 
  • Community Education: working with the classes/courses that are provided  
  • Each student will have the opportunity to take a leadership role during their placement. 

In keeping with TUSLA requirements, the following must be provided by each student:

  • Copy of photo ID 
  • Garda vetting/Police vetting 
  • Written references (2) 
  • Signed confidentiality agreement 
  • Next of kin Details 
  • Passport size photo 
  • Relevant documentation from college/school outlining placement details & insurance
